Using heat pump technology to recover waste heat is a big thing these days.

Engineer 775 tries to incorporate heat pump water heaters as part of his solar installations for a number of reasons. The heat from the inverters batteries and charge controllers can be utilized to make hot water. At the same time the climate in this control room is being regulated and cooler electronics means a longer life span.

And yes they also use the solar system to heat hot water.
