Spring 2015 Is The Target For Deploying 5 Test Buoys
The test will take place off the coast of Peru.
Peru was deemed the ideal location because of the steady waves it has that originate in the Antarctic ocean. It is an area of less seasonal variability than most other places in the world.
Aside from producing electricity, it is eventually planed to use the water for a desalination plant and an ice making plant.
The equipment has been shipped out from Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Peru, where the company is planning to deploy a scaled 1/3 demonstration system that will consist of 5 buoys.
The shipment includes 5 pumps that consist of a rod and piston, and are designed to use the tension created by the floating buoys to pull in sea water and pump it to the shore.
The pressurized water will then be transmitted through a seafloor hose to turn the onshore turbine that will generate electricity.

Our method for harnessing wave energy and converting it into electricity is unique throughout the world.
It operates two miles at sea as a series of buoys with pumps located below each of them, and platforms below the pumps.
As waves lift the buoy, the platform resists the upward movement causing the piston in the middle to pump sea water with the passing of each wave. An array consists of 15 pumps that are hooked together and collectively pump sea water to shore where it goes through a classic pelton water wheel to make clean, renewable electricity!
